Toulouse shock high-flying Saint-Etienne

Toulouse come from behind to earn their first victory of the Ligue 1 season against second-place Saint-Etienne at Stade Geoffroy-Guichard.

Toulouse have recorded their first Ligue 1 victory of the season with a come-from-behind triumph at high-flying Saint-Etienne tonight.

The hosts knew that they could climb above Monaco to the top of the table with three points against their struggling opponents, who were winless in their opening five matches of the campaign.

Les Verts seemed to be on track for a routine victory when they were gifted an 18th-minute advantage courtesy of a mistake from Toulouse goalkeeper Ali Ahamada.

The 22-year-old stopper spilled a cross from Fabien Lemoine, allowing Romain Hamouma to convert into the open goal from eight yards.

However, Toulouse responded with a surprise second-half comeback, which began when unmarked forward Martin Braithwaite tapped in a rebound on 63 minutes, following Stephane Ruffier's parrying of Etienne Didot's low strike.

The turnaround was complete when 19-year-old full-back Issiaga Sylla scored just his second career goal by guiding home Serge Aurier's cross to the far post with 15 minutes remaining.

Mevlut Erding squandered Saint-Etienne's best chance to find an equaliser when he scuffed a 12-yard shot wide of the goal, as Toulouse hung on for a win that sees them climb five places in the table.
