Martin O'Neill makes his first addition to the Sunderland backroom staff since taking over on Saturday.

New Sunderland manager Martin O'Neill has added former Hibernian head of performance Jim Henry to his backroom staff.

The appointment comes after O'Neill signed a three-year deal with the Black Cats on Saturday.

The former Northern Ireland international has also expressed his desire to turn the club's disappointing season around.

"We're in a little bit of trouble at the moment, the sooner we can win matches the better," said O'Neill.

Sunderland currently lie in 17th place, just one point above the relegation zone, and will host fellow strugglers Blackburn on Sunday.
