Dick Advocaat glad to have Adam Johnson back

Sunderland boss Dick Advocaat explains his delight at having Adam Johnson back in the team following the winger's recent off-field problems.

Sunderland boss Dick Advocaat has lamented the absence of Adam Johnson in recent weeks after their 2-0 win against Everton on Sunday.

The winger, who was arrested on suspicion of sexual activity with a 15-year-old girl in March, has made just five appearances since the allegations were raised.

The former Manchester City player has a court case set for May 20, but Advocaat is pleased to have the 27-year-old back in the fold.

He told reporters: "I was really happy for Johnson the way he came in.

"A player of his quality has to play every week. He can keep a ball, he's quick he knows the game. Missing that kind of player is a big blow for us."

The Black Cats host Leicester City in their penultimate game of the season next week.
