Stoke City striker Michael Owen insists that he has overcome his injury problems and is ready to get back on the pitch.

Michael Owen has revealed that he is ready to represent Stoke City over the upcoming Christmas period.

A combination of groin and hamstring problems have resulted in the former England international spending just 56 minutes on the pitch since he joined the Potters on a free transfer in September of this year.

However, he is due to feature in a friendly match today and if that goes well, the 32-year-old has insisted that he will be available for selection against Everton on Saturday.

"I am healthy and raring to go," he told The Sentinel. "It depends on me now to stay fit and perform. I have to wait for the opportunity, but hopefully I can take it when it does come.

"I've had muscular problems which have probably come from not having a solid pre-season. It's a key period because the games are coming thick and fast and there are a lot of points to be had around Christmas.

"I just want to get going because it has been a stuttering start so far for me. I just want to be fit for a period of time and show the fans what I came here to do."

Owen last found the net during a League Cup tie against Aldershot while playing for Manchester United last season.
