Stoke City boss Mark Hughes eyeing top-half finish

Stoke City boss Mark Hughes believes that his side have the ability to finish in the top half of the Premier League following their win over West Bromwich Albion.

Stoke City boss Mark Hughes is eyeing a top-half finish in the Premier League following their 2-0 victory over West Bromwich Albion.

The Potters secured back-to-back wins in the space of three days as a brace from Mame Biram Diouf guided Hughes's men to victory at the Britannia Stadium.

Hughes is adamant that his side can continue their surge up the table and remain there for the rest of the campaign, if they can keep up the level of their performances.

He told BBC Sport: "It was a struggle for both teams to go again in the short space of time. It affected us in the first half as we were off the pace. The second half we had more energy in our play and we were more on the front foot and we got the first goal, which was crucial today.

"We are a team that can consistently be in the top half if we all do our jobs, and we want to stay there for the rest of the season. After a good performance and great result against Everton it was important we came here and got the job done.

"We are happy with our points tally, but if we look back at games here when we slipped up, maybe we could have been a bit higher."

Stoke are 11th in the Premier League but are only in the bottom half on goal difference.
