Whitehead: 'Palacios would be welcomed'
Dean Whitehead says that he would welcome the competition from Tottenham's Wilson Palacios, should he sign for the Potters.

Stoke City midfielder Dean Whitehead has said that Tottenham's Wilson Palacios would be a good signing for the Potters.

Club chairman Peter Coates recently confirmed that the club have made an offer to the London outfit for the Honduran international and striker Peter Crouch, as the team prepare for their first ever European campaign.

"He's been a good player," midfielder Whitehead told The Sentinel. "He burst onto the scene at Wigan and looked a right good player to get his move to Spurs.

"They've got loads of excellent players there, so who knows? But if he came here I'm sure he'd be welcomed with open arms."

Palacios joined Spurs during the 2008/09 season and has made 66 appearances for the club.
