Tottenham may look to Valencia defender Adil Rami after missing out on their first-choice targets to replace the departed Steven Caulker, according to a report in Spain.

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly turned to Valencia's £9.5m-rated defender Adil Rami in their search for a new centre-half.

The sale of Steven Caulker to Cardiff City and injury concerns over Younes Kaboul and Jan Vertonghen have left Spurs light at the back, and manager Andre Villas-Boas is apparently keen to bring in reinforcements.

His attempts to sign Steaua Bucharest's Vlad Chiricihes were scuppered by the Romanian club's imprisoned owner, and another apparent target, Toby Alderweireld, looks poised to swap Ajax for Spartak Moscow.

Spanish media outlet Superdeporte reports that the Lillywhites have now identified French international Rami as a possible alternative.

Serie A outfit Fiorentina are also courting the 27-year-old, who is likely to want first-team assurances in order to nail down a place in France's 2014 World Cup squad.
