Tottenham Hotspur winger Giovani dos Santos is willing to contemplate staying at White Hart Lane this summer following the appointment of Andre Villas-Boas.

Tottenham Hotspur winger Giovani dos Santos has said that he may be willing to stay at White Hart Lane this summer following the appointment of Andre Villas-Boas.

The 23-year-old, who scored twice as Mexico beat Gabon in Coventry yesterday, fell out of favour at Spurs under former boss Harry Redknapp.

Dos Santos was previously adamant in his desire to leave North London, however he now appears to have had a change of heart.

"I've not spoken to the new trainer. I'll wait until the Olympics is over and then we will talk," he said. "I have to see what he thinks and then we will decide that's best. It could be good for me. There could be opportunities now that the club has a new trainer.

"I have one year on my contract and I can't do anything until that has run out. Until now it's been frustrating for me. It was a big disappointment that Harry Redknapp didn't play me and I don't know the reasons why as I almost never spoke to him.

"But I would like to stay in England and the most important thing is that I play. It could be that there is a space if Modric leaves but I don't know exactly."

Dos Santos joined Spurs from Barcelona in June 2008 for a fee of £4.7m. He has since featured 33 times for the Lilywhites' first team.
