Mauricio Pochettino tips Brad Friedel for management

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino believes that Brad Friedel could return to the Premier League as a manager.

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Mauricio Pochettino has claimed that Brad Friedel could build a successful career in management after he announced his retirement.

The veteran goalkeeper confirmed on Thursday that he will return to the US to become a pundit when his Spurs contract expires at the end of the season, but Pochettino believes that the 43-year-old could return to the Premier League.

"The announcement is a very special moment for him. It's a real pleasure to work with him and to know him because he's a top man, a top professional and it was fantastic to spend time with him this season," the Argentine told reporters.

"Why not [return as a manager]? Brad is a very clever person and with his natural energy and his leadership he can easily manage a team in the Premier League – only if he wants to, and wants to take that way in his future.

"But if he's ready and he's experienced - and he's learned a lot about football in all of his career - I think it's possible in the next few seasons he can manage."

Friedel will become the oldest player to have appeared in the Premier League if he plays in either of Tottenham's final two games.
