Tottenham Hotspur's Harry Kane targets more starts, more goals

Tottenham Hotspur forward Harry Kane hopes that his impressive goalscoring record can keep him in Tim Sherwood's first XI.

Tottenham Hotspur forward Harry Kane hopes that his impressive goalscoring record can keep him in Tim Sherwood's first XI.

The 20-year-old has started just three league games for Spurs - all this month - and has repaid his manager's faith by netting three goals.

Speaking after Saturday's 3-1 win over Fulham, Kane told Spurs TV: "I was delighted to get on the scoresheet again to make it three in three. Hopefully, I can keep scoring from now until the end of the season.

"It's great to score important goals. It's great to be given the chances. At any level you've got to be scoring to keep your place in the team - and I've been able to do that.

"At this level, there's always competition and there's always players trying to take your spot. You've got to take your chances and not let people do that. I've been able to score in every start I've had so far. I'm delighted and hopefully I can get a few more."

England Under-21 international Kane has three years remaining on his current contract at White Hart Lane.
