Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas insists that he does not know if striker Emmanuel Adebayor will perform an international U-turn.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas has revealed that he would have no problem if striker Emmanuel Adebayor decided to play for Togo in the Africa Cup of Nations.

Adebayor has currently made himself unavailable for the tournament, that begins on January 19, but Villas-Boas has insisted that he would respect the 28-year-old's decision if he changed his mind about participating in South Africa later this month.

Villas-Boas told Sky Sports News: "I haven't confirmed it because it's a vulnerable situation and anything can happen.

"The player can still go, but we just need to be aware of it. It's always his choice because I'm not going to put myself in a position where I block a player from international duty.

"If he wants to go, we fully respect it. I'm not involved in any form and the club have nothing to do with the situation."

Adebayor scored for Spurs as they beat Reading 3-1 on New Year's Day.
