Joe Mattock could make Sheffield Wednesday return at Blackburn Rovers

Sheffield Wednesday Joe Mattock recovers from an ankle injury two weeks ahead of schedule.

Sheffield Wednesday left-back Joe Mattock has recovered two weeks earlier than expected from an ankle injury and could make his return in this weekend's Championship match at Blackburn Rovers.

The 24-year-old was initially ruled out for six weeks last month but has worked his way back to full fitness within four.

"Joe is ahead of schedule and will be available for selection for Saturday. He has been excellent for us this season," Owls boss Stuart Gray told the club website.

Mattock might struggle to get back in the side given Jeremy Helan's performances filling in for him at full-back. The latter recently came third in the club's Player of the Month vote for November.
