Chris Morgan: 'We'll turn it around'

Chris Morgan believes that the next manager of Sheffield United will be inheriting a "good job".

Sheffield United caretaker-manager Chris Morgan has said that whoever takes the post at Bramall Lane will be getting a "good job" despite the Blades sitting at the bottom of League One.

A 3-0 defeat to Coventry City at Sixfields leaves the Yorkshire club without a win since the opening day of the season.

That run of form spelt the end for David Weir on Friday, just over three months since the Scot took the job, and Morgan said that he is unsure of when a successor will be appointed.

"He's got a fantastic foundation of a football club to work with," PA quotes Morgan as saying. "The supporters, the stadium, the academy, the infrastructure and the squad of players, it's a good job to be inheriting.

"It comes to a time when players stand up, players are counted. Players play the game. As coaches and managers you can do what you want from Monday to Friday, you can set them up, you can drill them as much as you want, but the players play the game.

"I'm not sure about the timescale but I am sure the club want to get somebody in as soon as possible because we have another big game coming up next week against Port Vale."

United, who are three points from safety in League One, welcome Vale to Bramall Lane next Saturday.
