Christophe Galtier: 'Saint-Etienne not going to Paris Saint-Germain for Christmas shopping'

Christophe Galtier says that Saint-Etienne want to retain their Coupe de la Ligue title and beat Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday.

Christophe Galtier has joked that Saint-Etienne are not travelling to Paris Saint-Germain to do their Christmas shopping on Wednesday.

Les Verts make their way to the French capital to face Ligue 1 leaders PSG in pursuit of retaining the Coupe de la Ligue at the Parc des Princes.

"Paris Saint-Germain are the best side in our championship and I think they're one of the favourites to reach the last four of the Champions League," Galtier said in his press conference. "That said we're not coming to Paris to do our Christmas shopping. We'll need to be focused, determined and full of courage. We need to have the legs and mental strength to perturb them.

"When you've done it before and you know it's possible it means you have a certain amount of confidence in your ability. I think the players who won the trophy with us last season have spoken about it with the new signings. When you've won a trophy it pushes you to give everything in order to taste the pleasures of doing so again."

Saint-Etienne travel to PSG in the last 16 of the Coupe de la Ligue on Wednesday night.
