Republic of Ireland manager Giovanni Trapattoni says that Paul Green and Seamus Coleman will have important roles to play in this Friday's World Cup qualifier in Sweden.

Republic of Ireland manager Giovanni Trapattoni has stressed the importance of this Friday's World Cup qualifier in Sweden.

The Irish go into the game just one point behind the second-placed Swedes in Group C, with a game in hand on leaders Germany.

Trapattoni said that his side has the quality to come away with a result from the key fixture, singling out Leeds United's Paul Green and Everton's Seamus Coleman as having important roles to play.

"The next match will obviously be very important. It will be important to keep in mind there is only one point between us and Sweden in our pool. As always every little detail is important to achieve the result," Sky Sports News quotes him as saying.

"International games are a little bit different physically, in attitude, mentality, personality.

"If we are to have this balance, if Seamus Coleman goes forward [from right-back], I said we must also push the defensive line. We have to stay in this position. Paul Green has the attitude."

Republic of Ireland will face Austria in Group C four days after the Sweden showdown.
