Real Madrid reveal that Thibaut Courtois, Federico Valverde, Eduardo Camavinga and Vinicius Junior have all tested positive for coronavirus.

Real Madrid have revealed that Thibaut Courtois, Federico Valverde, Eduardo Camavinga and Vinicius Junior have all tested positive for coronavirus.

Los Blancos are due to return to La Liga action against Getafe on January 2, having not played since the victory over Athletic Bilbao on December 22.

However, Carlo Ancelotti's side will be without Courtois, Valverde, Camavinga and Vinicius for the contest after positive COVID-19 tests were returned.

"Unfortunately and despite complying with all the measures I have tested positive for Covid at the last check. Although I have no symptoms I am at home following protocol. Thank you," Courtois posted on social media.

Luka Modric, Rodrygo, Marco Asensio, Gareth Bale, Marcelo, Andriy Lunin, David Alaba and Isco have also recently contracted the virus.

Real Madrid have picked up 46 points from their opening 19 matches of the La Liga campaign, which has left them top of the table, eight points clear of second-placed Sevilla, who have a game in hand.
