Guti backs Zinedine Zidane to succeed at Real Madrid

Former midfielder Guti suggests that Real Madrid should give Zinedine Zidane time to succeed during his second spell at the Bernabeu.

Former midfielder Guti has claimed that no-one is more suited to the Real Madrid hotseat than Zinedine Zidane.

As recently as last week, there were reports which suggested that the Frenchman could be removed from his position at the Bernabeu in the near future.

However, back-to-back victories in La Liga have taken Real to the top of the league standings, effectively putting Zidane in a stronger position behind the scenes.

Speaking at a La Liga gala, Guti was quizzed on the current situation at Los Blancos, and the Spaniard took the chance to give his backing to the current manager.

Guti said: "Nobody's going to do what he's done as a coach at Real Madrid. It's always hard to return to a team and, little by little, they're improving."

The playmaker made 542 appearances for Real in all competitions during a period between 1995 and 2010.
