Gareth Bale has insisted that Real Madrid are heading in the right direction under new boss Julen Lopetegui.

Lopetegui has replaced Zinedine Zidane as head coach of the Spanish giants, and it has been a summer of change with Cristiano Ronaldo moving on to Juventus.

Los Blancos have beaten Juventus and Roma in their last two friendlies, and will face AC Milan in their final pre-season fixture this weekend before taking on Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Super Cup on August 15.

Bale, who had been tipped to leave Madrid this summer but is now certain to stay, has said that his team "still have things to improve", but the Welshman is confident ahead of the 2018-19 campaign.

"It's always difficult," Bale told Real Madrid TV. "The new coach has come in with his new ideas and we still have things to improve. It's never easy to adapt to a new coach, but in attack we are doing fine. We do what the coach wants, which is scoring goals and winning games."

Madrid will open their 2018-19 La Liga campaign at home to Getafe on August 19.
