Reading will reportedly consider appointing Paul Clement or Steve Cotterill as their new manager, while former Ajax boss Marcel Keizer could be another option.

Paul Clement and Steve Cotterill are two of the names in the frame to replace Jaap Stam as Reading manager, according to a report.

The Royals parted company with Stam on Wednesday morning following a terrible run of form that has left the club just three points above the Championship dropzone.

Reading now have nine days to appoint a new man before their next match, with Queens Park Rangers visiting the Madejski Stadium at the end of the month, and Sky Sports News claims that two frontrunners have already emerged.

Clement, sacked by Swansea City in December, has previously worked with Reading chief executive Ron Gourlay at Chelsea, while Cotterill has been out of work for just a few weeks after failing to turn around Birmingham City's fortunes.

The same report suggests that Marcel Keizer, formerly of Ajax, is a possible outside contender.
