Scottish giants Rangers complete the signing of Welsh forward Tom Lawrence on a free transfer, following his release from Derby County.

Rangers have completed the signing of forward Tom Lawrence on a free transfer, subject to international clearance.

The 28-year-old became a free agent at the beginning of this month after his contract at Derby County expired.

Lawrence leaves the Rams, who have been relegated to League One, after five years with the club where he recorded 37 goals and 25 assists in 184 appearances across all competitions.

The 23-cap Wales international has become the second player to arrive at Ibrox this week following the signing of striker Antonio Colak from PAOK on Thursday.

Speaking to the club's official website on his arrival at Rangers, Lawrence said: "I am delighted to have joined Rangers and I'm excited to get started.

"The club is known worldwide for its history, successes and fan base and I look forward to being part of that going forward and getting to play in front of the supporters at Ibrox."

Manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst added: "I am really pleased we have been able to secure the signing of Tom and he will further add to our attacking options.

"He has gained valuable experience over a number of years with Derby County and I look forward to working with him this season."

Lawrence began his career with Manchester United's academy but only made one senior appearance for the Red Devils before moving on the play for the likes of Leicester City, Blackburn Rovers, Cardiff City and Ipswich Town.

The attacker is now set to link up with the Rangers squad for their pre-season trip to Portugal, and he could make his competitive debut for the club against Livingston on the opening weekend of the Scottish Premiership season at the end of this month.
