Rangers boss Ally McCoist believes that his side's first away win of the season back in October was the catalyst for their recent good form.

Rangers manager Ally McCoist has highlighted the club's first away win of the season as the reason for their recent good form.

Rangers beat Clyde 2-0 on October 28 having previously drawn three and lost one of their away ties as they tried to adjust to the Scottish Third Division.

The fallen giants have won every league game since that victory, and McCoist believes that it was a turning point in his side's season.

"You could actually see, when we picked up the three points against Clyde away from home, that the release valve had been loosened," said McCoist.

"It was a monkey off the back, if you like, because we'd had three draws and a defeat up until then. Our away performances and results weren't great. That result - and recent results away from home - would indicate that there seems to be a greater degree of confidence and belief that we can get victories away from home.

"I think that opening away victory against Clyde was very, very important for us."

Rangers, who sit nine points clear at the top of the Scottish Third Division having picked up maximum points from their last eight league games, will face Clyde again on Boxing Day.
