Stuart McCall proud of Rangers record

Stuart McCall insists that he can be proud of his short spell in charge of Rangers.

Stuart McCall has insisted that he is proud of what he achieved during his brief spell in charge of Rangers.

The former midfielder arrived at Ibrox Stadium in March on a temporary deal until the end of the season.

McCall enjoyed a solid start to his reign at Rangers, but failure to guide the team to the Scottish Premiership saw him lose his job.

"We got to a point where most people didn't think we would reach," he told Sky Sports News. "I had a great time there and it was short and sweet but it certainly hasn't tarnished my reputation, I wouldn't have thought.

"I'm really proud of what we managed to do to a certain extent. I think we managed to go 13 or 14 games with just losing once. We managed to turn over Hibs a couple of times, beat Hearts and beat Queen of the South down there.

"When I first went in, the morale, the belief and the confidence were very low and I think to get to the playoff final was an achievement in itself."

Ex-Brentford boss Mark Warburton was named the new Rangers boss last month, with David Weir acting as his assistant.
