Queens Park Rangers midfielder Joey Barton has revealed that he turned down the opportunity to join Crystal Palace this summer.

The 30-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Marseille, has been widely linked with a move away from Loftus Road before September 2.

However, despite interest from Premier League side Palace, the experienced midfielder admitted that it was "not the right move".

He tweeted: "They tried but its not the right move for me and my family right now. Hope they stay up as I like Holloway."

Barton is expected to remain with the R's until at least January.
