Chris Ramsey confident of Queens Park Rangers survival

QPR caretaker manager Chris Ramsey insists that the team have enough quality to avoid relegation from the Premier League this season.

Queens Park Rangers caretaker manager Chris Ramsey has expressed his belief that the club has "more than enough" talent to avoid relegation from the Premier League this season.

The Hoops currently sit 19th in the table due largely to their dismal away record that has seen them lose all 11 of their matches on the road this season.

Their troubles were compounded by Harry Redknapp's surprise decision to step down from his role at the club earlier this week, but Ramsey insists that the players will have a "clean slate" when he takes charge of the team for the first time at home to Southampton on Saturday.

"From the point of view that we had a manager of great stature before, I think we are going to have to maintain some of the things he did, but I will also be myself and implement my own ideas," Ramsey told the club's official website.

"I haven't got the personal relationships with the players that the last manager had, but it is an opportunity now for everyone to show what they can do. It is all hands to the pump, it is a clean slate and everyone who is fit and available will be in contention for a place. I believe we have got more than enough talent here to see ourselves safe between now and the end of the season.

"It is important to utilise the whole club to get us above that relegation zone between now and the end of the season. If there are positions we need to fill, or there are injuries, or there are people showing good form in the Under-21s - then they will get a chance if we believe they are ready."

Tim Sherwood is the current favourite to replace Redknapp, while Steve McClaren and Paul Clement have distanced themselves from the position.
