Laurent Blanc: 'Paris Saint-Germain deserved to beat Monaco'

Laurent Blanc says that Paris Saint-Germain deserved to beat Monaco on Sunday in Ligue 1.

Paris Saint-Germain coach Laurent Blanc has insisted that his side deserved to beat Monaco on Sunday.

The Ligue 1 champions were held to a 1-1 draw by the league leaders at Parc des Princes after Radamel Falcao cancelled out Zlatan Ibrahimovic's opener.

"Without taking anything away from Monaco, who played very well, but given the number of scoring opportunities we had tonight, I think we probably deserved to win," Blanc said in his post-match press conference. "But it was an excellent match of football.

"We could have been a little more decisive in front of goal. To score only one goal with all of those chances, it isn't a great ratio.

"There were two very good teams on the pitch and, I think, two coaches that tried to win right up until the final whistle. I think the match had that little something special that the fans in the stadium and those watching on television would have really enjoyed the game."

Monaco remain top of Ligue 1, while PSG climb to second.
