Galatasaray midfielder Raul Meireles has been ruled out of Portugal's upcoming World Cup qualification matches against Israel and Luxembourg with a thigh injury.
The former Chelsea man is believed to have picked up the injury in training, with the Portuguese Football Federation confirming his absence on Wednesday.
As a result, Braga midfielder Custodio, who has nine international caps to his name, has been called into the squad for their two Group F matches.
Joao Pereira, Miguel Lopes and Bruno Alves are also among the absentees.
