Aaron Holloway inspires Wycombe Wanderers to first-leg win

Wycombe Wanderers survive a late Plymouth Argyle comeback to lead 3-2 going into the second leg of their League Two playoff semi-final.

Plymouth Argyle staged a late comeback to give themselves hope of reaching the League Two playoff final, despite losing 3-2 to Wycombe Wanderers in their semi-final first leg.

The home side made a good start as Gethin Jones forced Alex Lynch into a low save at his near post.

However, it was the visitors who took the lead as Paul Hayes converted an in-swinging corner on the line.

The Pilgrims almost equalised through Anthony O'Connor, but he blazed an effort wide at the far post after a neat flick from Curtis Nelson.

They paid for that miss 10 minutes later as Wycombe doubled their lead through Aaron Holloway, who lashed the ball into the bottom corner from the edge of the box.

O'Connor missed another good chance before half time, miscuing an effort wide from close range at the end of a frustrating half for the hosts.

It got worse after the break as Steven Craig coolly slotted home a third after Saunders found him with a free kick, and Holloway almost added a fourth with a venomous shot that flew just over the bar.

However, Plymouth changed the complexion of the tie in minutes as Zak Ansah smashed a 20-yard shot into the top corner to pull a goal back, before Jason Banton's curled effort found the far corner.
