Carl Frampton wants a world title fight by the end of 2013 but will not underestimate next opponent Kiko Martinez.

Carl Frampton has said that he wants to win a world title by the end of the year.

The Northern Irish super-bantamweight impressed in his last fight against Steve Molitor, and will face Kiko Martinez in February for the European title.

Frampton is aware that the Spaniard will provide his toughest test to date, but insists that a win will open the door to a world title fight.

"My whole aim when I turned professional was to become a world champion and that aim is now well within my grasp," Frampton told the Belfast Newsletter.

"But I know that I have to take care of Martinez first and he will be the biggest test of my professional career to date.

"However I also know that if I beat Martinez, a world title fight is just around the corner. So there is everything to fight for on February 9."

Both men have an impressive knockout percentage, with Frampton stopping 10 of his 15 opponents and Martinez winning 19 of his 27 victories inside the distance.

Frampton is unbeaten, winning all 15 fights.
