Newport County vs. Oxford United beaten by the weather

This afternoon's League Two game between Newport County and Oxford United is postponed following heavy rainfall in South Wales.

This afternoon's League Two game between Newport County and Oxford United has been postponed.

Referee Rob Lewis inspected the pitch at Rodney Parade just after 10am and decided that the surface was unplayable.

Newport had worked hard to get the game on, bringing in Glamorgan cricket club groundsman Keith Exton to vertidrain the pitch on New Year's Eve.

Unfortunately, Exton's efforts were not supported by a change in weather, as persistent rainfall forced the match to be called off.
