Ryan Taylor: 'Newcastle United in a big hole'

Newcastle United defender Ryan Taylor admits that the team's recent form has left them in a "big hole".

Ryan Taylor has claimed that Newcastle United are in a "big hole" as they look to avoid relegation from the Premier League.

The Magpies ended an eight-game losing run on Saturday by drawing 1-1 with West Bromwich Albion, but they remain just two points clear of danger with two matches left.

Taylor admits that Newcastle's recent form has been "embarrassing" and has urged his teammates to fight their way out of trouble.

"[The losing run] was embarrassing and if you asked every single person in the dressing room, they feel the same way," he is quoted as saying by The Mirror. "From where we were in January everyone thought we could at least cement a place in the top 10. We find ourselves in a big hole now and we just need a win to get out of it.

"When we went down last time in May 2009, we had a lot more experience in the squad than we have now. I have to make sure those who haven't been here too long, fully understand the situation and together we get out of this mess and secure our Premier League status."

Newcastle are back in Premier League action on Saturday when they face relegated Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road.
