Mike Williamson: 'Newcastle United to benefit from international break'

Mike Williamson hopes that the two-week international break will help Newcastle United get their groove back.

Newcastle United defender Mike Williamson is confident that the Magpies will enjoy an upturn in fortunes after the international break.

The two-week break offers Alan Pardew's side a much-needed reprieve as winless Newcastle sit third from bottom in the Premier League table.

Williamson and co. held Swansea City to a 2-2 draw last time out, and the centre-back expects a response when Leiecester City travel to the North East on October 18.

"It is part and parcel of the game and there is no getting away from the position we are in and the results we have had," he told the Newcastle Evening Chronicle.

"So that is the black and white of it and we need to get points on the board as much as we can. This will only make us stronger and people will see that when we get out of this period.

"We go into the break on a high and with a chance to get some work done, come together and make sure we win the next one."

The St James' Park club have lost three and drawn four times from their opening seven outings.
