Newcastle United winger Sylvain Marveaux is still hopeful that he can make a return to the starting lineup before the end of the season.
The 25-year-old has made nine appearances for the Magpies following his summer move from Rennes.
However, was he forced to limp off during a match with Everton in November and has since undergone surgery on his hip and groin.
"I've been working hard. I've been doing strength work for my legs and upper body as well," he told the club's official website. "I hope to be fit soon, but there is still a long way to go.
"Maybe in a couple of months [I could be back], but maybe next month I will be able to run again, so that would be a good step.
"I am trying to work hard, and maybe I could play before the end of the season - that would be great. I don't know though, we will see."
Marveaux signed a five-year deal upon his arrival on Tyneside.
