Middlesbrough are reportedly keen on appointing former West Bromwich Albion boss Tony Pulis as a replacement for Garry Monk, who left the club on Saturday night.

Middlesbrough have reportedly identified Tony Pulis as their number-one target to replace Garry Monk.

On Saturday evening, Boro announced that they had parted ways with Monk, despite the club earning a 2-1 victory over Sheffield Wednesday earlier in the day.

According to ESPN, the North-East outfit are keen act fast in their search for Monk's successor, and an offer will be made to Pulis.

Earlier this season, the Welshman was removed from his role at West Bromwich Albion, but the 59-year-old remains in demand due to his previous success at the Baggies, Stoke City and Crystal Palace.

The report suggests that Pulis is interested in discussing the role at Boro, who currently sit in ninth place in the Championship standings and three points off the playoffs.
