Richarlison: 'Barcelona, Manchester United wanted to sign me in January'

Everton forward Richarlison reveals that Barcelona and Manchester United made offers to sign him in the January transfer window.

Richarlison has claimed that Everton knocked back offers for him earlier this season from Barcelona and Manchester United.

The Brazil international was linked with the heavyweight clubs in the January window after a strong first half to the campaign.

Richarlison, a £40m signing from Watford in 2018, has scored 10 goals in the Premier League this term and set up three more.

Speaking to YouTube channel Desimpedidos, the 23-year-old insisted that he would not have left Everton at the turn of the year even if Barca or United had bids accepted.

"There were lots of offers during the season, from Barcelona and from Manchester United," he said.

"But the club opted to keep me in the group and I didn't want to leave in the middle of the season. It's bad to leave teammates like that.

"Of course you feel impacted - Barcelona is one of the greatest clubs in the world, but I think happiness plays its part as well."

Everton midfielder Bernard has tipped teammate Richarlison to continue improving during his time at Goodison Park.
