Report: Manchester City lead Miranda race

A report claims that Manchester City lead the race for Atletico Madrid defender Miranda.

Manchester City have reportedly moved ahead of Manchester United in the race to sign Atletico Madrid centre-back Miranda.

A recent report claimed that Atletico are now prepared to part with the Brazilian following the rise of Uruguay youngster Jose Gimenez.

Both Manchester clubs are said to hold a strong interest in the central defender, but according to le10sport.com, Man City are now in the driving seat.

City boss Manuel Pellegrini is still on the lookout for a reliable partner for Vincent Kompany, with summer signing Eliaquim Mangala struggling to adapt to life in the Premier League.

Miranda will reportedly cost in the region of £20m.
