Real Madrid verbally agree a deal with Bayern Munich defender David Alaba, according to a report.

Real Madrid have reportedly verbally agreed a deal with Bayern Munich defender David Alaba.

The Austria international will leave the Allianz Arena on a free transfer at the end of June, and a number of clubs have been credited with an interest in the 28-year-old.

According to ABC Deportes, Madrid have won the race to sign the versatile defender, verbally agreeing a contract and signing bonus.

The report claims that Alaba is expected to pocket £165,000 a week in wages at the Bernabeu, while he will also be paid £17.2m to join Zinedine Zidane's side.

Alaba has also been strongly linked with Barcelona, Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea, but all four clubs now appear to have missed out on a deal for the Austrian.

The two-time Champions League winner has again been a key player for Bayern this season despite the speculation surrounding his future, making 35 appearances in all competitions.
