Manchester United are offered the chance to sign Marco Asensio from Real Madrid, according to a report.

Manchester United have reportedly been offered the chance to sign Real Madrid attacker Marco Asensio before the end of this summer's transfer window.

The Red Devils continue to work on a deal for Ajax's Antony, but another forward could also arrive before the deadline, with head coach Erik ten Hag determined to improve his attacking options.

Asensio's future has been the subject of much speculation this summer, with AC Milan, Liverpool and Arsenal among the clubs believed to be interested in the Spain international.

According to The Telegraph, Man United have now been offered the chance to sign Asensio, who is believed to be available for a fee in the region of £25m.

The Red Devils are said to have discussed the versatile forward during their Casemiro talks with Real Madrid, and he is seen as a possible option before the window closes.

Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti admitted on Thursday that the Spaniard is looking to leave the Bernabeu.

"Marco is looking at things to see if he can leave. If he doesn't leave, he will 100% be a Madrid player," Relevo quotes the Italian as saying following the Champions League draw.

The 26-year-old was a regular for Real Madrid during the 2021-22 campaign, making 42 appearances in all competitions, contributing 12 goals and two assists in the process.

Asensio's current deal is due to expire next June, though, and there are not currently discussions over a possible extension at the club.

The attacker has scored 49 goals and registered 24 assists in 236 appearances for Los Blancos since arriving from Mallorca in 2014, winning three La Liga titles and three Champions League crowns in the process.

However, he admitted earlier this summer that an exit in the current window was a possibility, telling Marca: "Renew or leave Real Madrid? I think there are three possibilities, there is also the option to stay and fulfil my contract year.

"My future does not have to depend on whether or not I will have a place in the next World Cup. Rumours are part of football, and more so at Real Madrid. High-level players are always associated with it. Many players come out every summer and it's something we have to live with."

Asensio has only played seven minutes of La Liga football for Real Madrid this season, featuring as a late substitute in the 4-1 victory over Celta Vigo last time out.

The Spaniard is behind Federico Valverde and Rodrygo in the pecking order for a spot on the right side of the Real Madrid attack and is allegedly keen to leave for a club where he would be considered a starter.

Man United are also believed to be considering an approach to re-sign Memphis Depay from Barcelona, but a possible move for Frenkie de Jong is now seen as highly unlikely at this stage of the window.
