Manchester United 'make contact over Alassane Plea deal'

Manchester United reportedly open talks with Borussia Monchengladbach striker Alassane Plea ahead of a possible move to Old Trafford this summer.

Manchester United have reportedly opened talks over a possible deal to sign Alassane Plea from Borussia Monchengladbach this summer.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made the signing of a new centre-forward one of his main priorities for the upcoming window, having seen his side linked to a plethora of players in January before eventually bringing in Odion Ighalo on loan.

The form of Plea has attracted the attention of a number of top European clubs, and Sky Deutschland reports that United chief Ed Woodward has now made contact to gauge his interest in a move to Old Trafford.

The 27-year-old has directly contributed to 15 goals in 22 Bundesliga appearances this season, scoring eight times himself and creating seven more for his teammates.

That form has helped Monchengladbach to challenge for a Champions League place this term, currently sitting fourth in the table ahead of this weekend's return after coronavirus.

United are expected to face competition for his signature, though, with Premier League rivals Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur also thought to be interested.
