Ajax reportedly tell Manchester United to stump up £40m in order to sign Mohammed Kudus, as Erik ten Hag is linked with another player from his former club.

Manchester United have reportedly been told that they must pay £40m in order to sign Ajax's Mohammed Kudus.

Erik ten Hag is keen to add to his attacking options after losing Cristiano Ronaldo after the 37-year-old's contract was terminated by mutual consent.

Since he was appointed nine months ago, the 52-year-old has already poached Lisandro Martinez and Antony from his former club and he was reportedly hoping to add a third player that he had already worked with.

However, The Daily Star reports that the Old Trafford boss believes that his former club have set an unrealistic price tag for the Ghanaian and may move on to alternative targets.

The 22-year-old enhanced his value with an impressive showing at the World Cup in Qatar, and the Amsterdam club are aware of the forward's increasing reputation, hence the big valuation.

The former Nordsjaelland man has made 21 appearances in all competitions so far this season, scoring 10 goals, including against United's arch-rivals Liverpool in the Champions League.
