Manchester United will reportedly have to pay £100m up front if they are to secure the services of Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane this summer.

Manchester United reportedly believe that they will need to pay £100m up front to sign Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

With the Red Devils keen to sign a high-profile striker ahead of the 2023-24 season, Kane has emerged as one of their potential targets.

The England international has entered the final 18 months of his current deal, and he plans to discuss his future with the club at the end of the season.

Kane, who is still yet to win a major trophy in his career, will end another campaign without any silverware after Tottenham were knocked out of the FA Cup and Champions League earlier this month.

According to The Times, Man United believe that Tottenham would want to receive a £100m up-front fee if they are to consider selling their most prized asset.

Clubs usually pay transfer fees in instalments, and it is believed Tottenham's stance is designed to ward off potential bidders.

Spurs are quietly confident that their asking price will help them retain Kane's services for another season.

However, a recent report claimed that Man United are prepared to make the Englishman the most expensive British player of all-time, which would require the Red Devils to surpass the £100m fee that Manchester City forked out for Jack Grealish in 2021.

Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are also showing an interest, with the latter still searching for Robert Lewandowski's replacement.

A move abroad would impact Kane's chances of breaking Alan Shearer's record of 260 Premier League goals, and as a result, the 29-year-old is keen to remain in England.

Although Spurs could run the risk of Kane leaving on a free transfer in 2024, they are content for him to enter the final 12 months of his current deal.

Speaking ahead of Saturday's 3-3 draw with Southampton, Conte revealed that he was confident Kane would stay if the club finished in the top four.

The Italian, meanwhile, could be sacked in the coming days following Saturday's explosive post-match press conference, where he launched a verbal attack on the Tottenham squad.

Spurs sit in fourth position, but they have played two games more than fifth-placed Newcastle United, who are just two points adrift.

Kane has scored 23 goals in 39 appearances for Tottenham this season, and he is currently with the England squad as they build up to Thursday's Euro 2024 qualifier with Italy.
