Diogo Dalot's situation at Manchester United must be resolved before the Red Devils can move for Kieran Trippier, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Manchester United will reportedly not be able to move for Atletico Madrid's Kieran Trippier until they sell Diogo Dalot.

With Ole Gunnar Solskjaer seeking competition for Aaron Wan-Bissaka at right-back, Trippier is thought to be on the Red Devils' radar for a return to the Premier League.

The former Tottenham Hotspur man played a key role under Diego Simeone during Atletico's title-winning campaign last term but is supposedly open to moving back to England this summer.

However, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claims that the Red Devils must first sort out Dalot's future at the club before they can consider making a move for Trippier.

Dalot impressed on loan at AC Milan last season and is reportedly wanted back by the Serie A giants, with Romano adding that United want to offload the Portuguese defender on loan for between €4m (£3.4m) and €5m (£4.2m) with an option to buy.

Dalot scored two goals and assisted three more from 33 games in all competitions for Milan last season, and his current deal at Old Trafford is due to expire in 2023.

Trippier's contract with Atletico will also run out in just under two years' time, and he set up his teammates six times en route to the La Liga crown last season.
