Liverpool reportedly join the race to sign 19-year-old Bristol City midfielder Alex Scott, who is also admired by Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.

Liverpool have reportedly joined the ever-growing list of clubs keeping a close eye on Bristol City midfielder Alex Scott.

The 19-year-old has already cemented a regular starting place in the Robins' lineup and has two goals and five assists to boast from 44 matches in the current campaign.

Scott has started 37 of Bristol City's 41 Championship games during the 2022-23 season, although he has been sidelined since the start of the month with a knee injury.

When fit, Scott has played in a variety of roles for Nigel Pearson's side, featuring both as a defensive and attacking midfielder, as well as on the right-hand side.

The teenager's rapid rise, versatility and direct goal contributions have attracted the attention of several top-flight clubs, with Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United among the interested parties.

Now, the Daily Mail claims that Liverpool have also expressed an interest in signing the England Under-20 international, having sent head of recruitment Dave Fallows and chief scout Barry Hunter to watch him in action against Germany during the international break.

The report adds that West Ham United and Wolverhampton Wanderers are also keeping a watchful eye on Scott, but neither side is safe from the threat of relegation to the Championship just yet.

Scott - who was born in Guernsey - is under contract at Ashton Gate until the summer of 2025, but Bristol City would find it difficult to turn down a sizeable offer from the Premier League.

The midfielder has amassed a total of six goals and seven assists in 86 appearances for Bristol City during his fledgling career, and he was named the Robins' Young Player of the Year last season.

Before being promoted to Under-20 level, Scott formed a part of England's Under-19 Euros-winning squad last year, playing in all five games and scoring once.

Liverpool will undergo a major midfield reshuffle in the summer window, as Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain prepare to leave at the end of their contracts alongside Roberto Firmino.

Arthur will also return to Juventus at the end of his loan spell, while James Milner is out of contract this summer, but the 37-year-old could still pen a one-year extension.

The Reds have been linked with a host of big-name midfielders for the 2023-24 season, namely Borussia Dortmund's Jude Bellingham, who is still said to be open to a move to Anfield despite their wobbles this season.

However, failure to qualify for the Champions League could make a £100m+ deal impractical for Liverpool, who have also been tipped to sign Inter Milan's Nicolo Barella as a cheaper alternative.

A 2-2 draw with Arsenal at the weekend left Liverpool eighth in the Premier League table ahead of next Monday's trip to face Leeds United at Elland Road.
