Leicester City reportedly place a £50m price tag on James Maddison amid interest from Tottenham Hotspur.

Leicester City have reportedly placed a £50m valuation on James Maddison amid links with Tottenham Hotspur.

Maddison, who joined Leicester from Norwich in 2018, has registered 54 goals and 38 assists in 194 appearances for the Foxes.

The midfielder's performances for his club side led to recognition by England boss Gareth Southgate, who recently started the Leicester man against Ukraine in Euro 2024 qualifying.

Although Leicester are languishing in the Premier League relegation zone, Maddison has still played an important role this season, scoring nine goals and providing six assists in 23 competitive games.

Maddison has entered the final 18 months of his contract, and there is no indication that he is close to agreeing a new deal.

With the two parties unable to reach an agreement, Leicester will want to avoid a situation similar to Youri Tielemans, who has run down his contract and is set to leave on a free transfer this summer.

The upcoming transfer window represents Leicester's final chance to command a significant fee for Maddison, and there is an acceptance within the club that he could leave after five seasons.

According to The Telegraph, Leicester would be looking to receive a fee in the region of £50m to part ways with the England international.

The report also claims that Tottenham Hotspur are leading the race to secure his signature as they look to rebuild following the recent departure of Antonio Conte.

Spurs are looking to recruit Maddison as a creative midfielder, who is also able to play out wide as he did for England against Ukraine last month.

Tottenham could face competition from Newcastle United, who previously failed with bids reportedly in the region of £50m, but such an offer could secure his services this summer.

Maddison is also believed to be attracting interest from the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool.

With Leicester currently two points adrift from safety, Maddison's current priority will be assisting the club's survival bid.

The Foxes, who sacked Brendan Rodgers on Sunday, are preparing for Saturday's home meeting with relegation rivals Bournemouth.
