Benfica 'open to offers for Manchester United target Gedson Fernandes'

Benfica will reportedly listen to offers for Gedson Fernandes during the winter transfer window.

Benfica are reportedly prepared to listen to offers for midfielder Gedson Fernandes during the January transfer window.

The 20-year-old, who has been capped on two occasions by Portugal, is believed to be a target for Manchester United during the winter market.

Indeed, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hinted after Wednesday's 2-0 loss to Arsenal that a new midfielder could arrive this month due to Scott McTominay and Paul Pogba's injuries.

According to Sky Sports News, Benfica are open to mid-season bids for the Portuguese, who has not played in his team's last seven matches amid suggestions of a disagreement with head coach Bruno Lage.

The report claims that Fernandes's representatives have been in England discussing a potential exit, and despite offers from Lyon and AC Milan, the youngster wants to move to the Premier League.

The midfielder came through the youth system at Benfica and has made 58 appearances for the club in all competitions, contributing three goals and seven assists.

United are also allegedly considering a fresh move for Newcastle United's Sean Longstaff this month due to their issues in the middle of the park.

The 20-time English champions will be looking to bounce back from Wednesday's 2-0 loss at Arsenal when they face Wolverhampton Wanderers in the third round of the FA Cup this weekend.
