Atletico Madrid reportedly show an interest in Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera, who has less than a year remaining on his contract at Old Trafford.

Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera has reportedly emerged as a transfer target for Atletico Madrid.

Herrera played a leading role as United won the EFL Cup and Europa League last season, but the Spaniard has made just seven starts in the Premier League and Champions league since the start of the current campaign.

The 28-year-old has less than a year remaining on his contract at Old Trafford and according to AS, Atletico are ready to launch a bid for the player, who has previously represented Real Zaragoza and Athletic Bilbao.

Atletico will be permitted to speak to Herrera from January, but United hold the option of extending the central midfielder's deal by an extra 12 months.

Herrera has netted 15 goals in 137 appearances in all competitions since moving to United in June 2014.
