A report has claimed that Everton boss David Moyes will be named as the successor to Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson in the next 24 hours.

Speculation has gathered pace that Moyes will be handed the role, with bookmakers placing the Scot as the firm favourite to take charge at Old Trafford.

According to The Times, Moyes will be named as the new manager of the Premier League champions within the next 24 hours.

It is understood that Ferguson has played a major role in identifying his replacement.
