Robin van Persie withdraws from the Netherlands squad through injury ahead of their upcoming friendlies against Japan and Colombia.

Robin van Persie has pulled out of the Netherlands squad through injury ahead of their upcoming friendlies against Japan and Colombia.

The Manchester United forward is reported to be struggling with groin and toe problems.

Van Persie is the all-time leading goalscorer for his country with 41 goals in 81 matches.

The Netherlands face Japan in Genk on Saturday before entertaining Colombia in Amsterdam three days later.
