Louis van Gaal eyes Liverpool victory

Louis van Gaal says that defeat is not an option as his Manchester United side prepare to face Liverpool in the final of the International Champions Cup in Miami.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has revealed that he intends to put out a marker by beating Liverpool in Miami on Tuesday morning.

The Premier League giants are poised to contest the final of the International Champions Cup after both won their respective group campaigns in the United States this summer.

Despite the clash falling under the guise of a friendly, Van Gaal insists that defeat is not on the agenda as the English rivals prepare to renew hostilities.

The Dutchman, speaking to reporters after extending his unbeaten start as United boss in the 3-1 win over Real Madrid, said: "It will be another preparation game for us but it's better to win than lose.

"It's good for English football - I think it's very important that two teams from the Premier League shall play in the final."

The encounter is scheduled to get underway at 1am GMT on Tuesday morning.
