Michael Owen eager to play regularly for Manchester United

Michael Owen admits that he is "not content" sitting on the bench for Manchester United.

Manchester United striker Michael Owen has said that he wants a regular spot in the Red Devils’ team after scoring a brace in the Carling Cup third round against Leeds last night (Tuesday).

The 31-year-old netted two goals for the Premier League champions in the club’s 3-0 win over Leeds at Elland Road.

"I'm not content if I'm not playing," Owen said. "I get criticised a lot with things like 'you don't play, you pick your money up' and all the rest of it but I'm not proud of that fact.

"I want to play all the time."

While the former Liverpool frontman understands it will be difficult to break into Alex Ferguson’s first team, he hopes that he can finish his career at Old Trafford.

"I believe I've got a few years left in me and I'd love it to be at Man United,” he added.

Owen penned a one-year contract extension at United in the summer.
