Manchester United boss David Moyes fined £8,000 for his referees blast

Manchester United manager David Moyes is fined £8,000 by the FA following his critism of match officials.

Manchester United manager David Moyes has been fined £8,000 by the Football Association after accepting charge of misconduct.

The English governing body decided to take action against the Scotsman after he publicly criticised referees following United's 2-1 defeat to Sunderland.

After the result of the Capital One Cup semi-final first leg, Moyes told reporters that it was like "having to play the opposition and the officials".

A statement from the FA said: "Moyes had admitted an FA misconduct charge in that his post-match comments following his side's game at Sunderland on Tuesday, January 7 2014 constituted improper conduct in that they called into question the integrity of the match officials appointed to that fixture and/or appointed to Manchester United fixtures generally, and/or implied that such match officials are motivated by bias; and/or brought the game into disrepute, in contravention of FA Rule E3(1)."

Moyes has also been warned about his future conduct.
